Today we woke up late again and ate a big breakfast. Then we
all got ready and went down to the beach. It was kind of hot, so we got to wear
shorts and it almost felt like summer. We went to this cool antique fair down
by the beach, and then we went and sat on the sand for a while. Cata bought us
all paraguitas, which is like a traditional candy (kind of like a long stick of
lollypop) to eat in Vina. We just sat on the beach for a while eating our
paraguitas and talking and enjoying the sea breeze (even though it was way too
cold to go in the water), and then after a while we walked back to the
apartment for lunch.
After a huge lunch, Cata Gabs, and I walked down along the
beach for a while to a well known park. We rented this bicycle cart thingy and
pedaled around for a while trying not to crash into people. It was the closest
to driving a car that I’ve come in 3 months and I really enjoyed it. After we
finished with the cart, we went and sat in the park and talked for a while, and
then we went to a nearby Starbucks (my 3rd Starbucks here and they’re
getting more frequent so I’m just a generally happier person). Afterward, we
walked all the way home. It was time for dinner by then, so we ate, and then we
all (including Rosario and Mary this time) walked a long way down the beach
almost to Renaca to get to this really awesome playground with a great jungle
gym and swings. The government did like some sort of fitness project recently
in Chile and now there are parks everywhere with like plastic exercise
equipment that actually works really well to exercise and is also super fun to
play on. We played there until it was like 11 at night and I was dead tired
after a busy day, so we all walked home, showered, and went to bed.
